Reconstruction Project

Happy winter day! We have had quite the snow storm here! Over a foot of snow in less than 24 hours! WOW! These are the days that I actually love! It gives me a chance to cozy up to my scrapbook table or sewing machine and create. One of my most favorite things to do is to turn something old into something new….hence this little orange sweater…
This used to be one of my favorite Fall sweaters…several years ago. I washed it a few times in hot water and threw it in the dryer..and viola! A new (and much smaller) felted wool sweater!
I thought it would make an adorable little girls spring cardigan, so I cut it up….added handmade apple bias trim….
used some of my favorite Amy Butler fabrics to make whimsical flower patches with random stitches…
and then i added buttons and cute grosgrain ribbon! After several hours of fun laboring, I love how it turned out, if only Lilyana could wear it now! I thought I’d give it a whirl on Etsy ….check it out if your interested….
I wasn’t done there! Lilyana has a plain jane denim jacket that was crying out to be embellished! And here is what I came up with….
I can’t wait to see her in this! And, I look forward to making more…maybe I can try my hand at these on Etsy as well….we’ll see!
