Procrastinate…Who Me?
April, 24 08 at 11:41 am | In Random, Scrapbooking, paper | 5 CommentsTags: ducks, flowers, journal, planting, pregnancy, Scrapbooking
OK, so my daughter is how old? 6 months old…..tomorrow! And, I JUST finished my pregnancy photo journal yesterday! I worked on it when I was pregnant, but I had a habit of sleeping the day away (man, I was soooooo tired all the time when I was preggers!). SO, needless to say, it was not finished by the time she was born. But…..it is now, oh happy day! I can’t wait to read this together with the Lilster.
I wanted to share….
Kinda cheesy to put the potty-stick picture in here? I wasn’t sure! But, this baby took forever to come and there were obstacles along the way, so the stick pic has special meaning I guess, LOL!
My mom lives on Oahu, and we already had a trip planned to Hawaii, so it was awesome to be able to see her in person to tell her the good news! I was only 8 weeks at the time…
There’s my little nugget when she was just a little apple seed. I think she’ll giggle seeing this “picture” of her…
And, there she was….all 8lbs 13oz of her!! And, she had (and still does have) great lungs!
So, now you’ve seen a little too much of me, eh?
All that scrapping got me in the mood to start a book, called a “Year in Review”. I want to fill this book with pictures and memories of just her first year. I only have the front and back covers done. Has anyone reading ever done a book like this? If so, what types of things did you include? Or, what would you include?
Since the weather has been cooperating, I decided it was time to spruce up the front porch….here is the BEFORE picture, LOL! It aint pretty.
And, here is the after….I have NO IDEA which flowers are in these pots, what they are called, whether they are annuals, perennials, whatever. My thumb is NOT green. I just go up and down the aisles of Home Depot and put a mish-mosh of colors in my cart. I don’t even know if they need full sun, partial sun, blah blah blah. I just water ‘em and try to keep ‘em alive! I do like how they look though (and, yes, I know the pots are chipped, i think this adds charm, right? Hee hee).
Oh and last but certainly not least are my little hubby and wife that come every morning to frolic in our ponds. They preen eachother and splash around like a couple of teenagers, it really is sweet to watch them.
Aren’t ducks so cute? I don’t know how anyone could eat these little guys! Food for thought!
Have a fabulous, fabulous day!!
J’Adore Etsy!

How do I love thee etsy? Oh, let me count the ways!
1. The community. The people on etsy are sooo dang sweet! Everyone is helpful, thoughtful and caring…at least that has been my experience thus far. I feel there is a “sisterhood” too, not competition. We inspire eachother as “artists” and “creaters”. I am inspired every time on log on to etsy! There are sooo many talented people, it’s sick! I just love that…one big creative community! iluvdesign was sweet enough to offer this cute Lemon Tree banner…she just wanted to create something and used my shop…she’s sweet and offering sweet goodies in her shop….be sure to check her out!

2. Oh the Things You Can Buy! I can close my eyes, whip something up in my head and POOF, someone can make it for me. Like this little dolly of a dress that I only dreamed about before actually having it in my hands today!

Miss Lily is going to be soooo adorable in this! I can’t wait! THANK YOU, NeverEver for this beautiful, twirly dress! It’s scrumptious!
3. I Get to Create Things that people cherish. This one seals the deal. This is main reason I love etsy and why I sell on etsy. My little items are sent all over the place and they are used or given away as gifts…and cherished (at least I hope). I love knowing that all those Mother’s Day cards are being given to one of the most important person in someone’s life. I know, so sentimental and cheesy, but it really makes me feel fuzzy inside and makes selling on etsy worthwhile.
A couple goodies….sitting pretty in the shop…..

I love the fact that there is NO SNOW on the ground and now I can take my picutres outside! Yay!
Short little post, I know! Short, but sweet!
HAPPY EARTH DAY!!

I just can not help myself when it comes to magazines and books! I probably have subscriptions to over 30 magazines, no…make that 40! I even have 2 issues of Marie Claire that come every month because I forgot I already had a subscription and ordered another on accident! I love getting them in the mail and letting them pile up. Then, the stack gets put by the bathtub and that’s what I do…..I take a bath, sip wine and read my pile of mags. I love this ritual! Then, I donate my mags to Stephanie (who probably doesn’t read any of them…but she never complains).
So, today I spent some time with Lilyana, Roman (another suitor of hers..that girl is going to have her hands full) and Stephanie at Border’s…a little bookstore here. And, where do I always head to first?? The MAGAZINES. I grab my usuals and plunk myself down and immerse myself in my guilty pleasure. Like I don’t have enough at home, right??

Lily and Roman got busy on the sofa at Border’s. Yes, the mama’s kept a close eye out for any funny business!
I did spend some time in the children’s section because I’m always looking to build up Lily’s library, and I found some great board books…and then I saw my absolute favorite book there: Someday by Alison McGhee. Someone bought this book for me when I was pregnant and, omigod! The waterworks would not stop flowing! To this day, every time I read this book I cry! I have no idea how I will ever be able to read it to Lily…she’ll think I’m a freak! This book is so heartwarming and I absolutely adore it! If you have a daughter, you must get this book!
SO, anyway…I made Stephanie read it, right there in Borders.. and by the 3rd page she was ballin’ like a baby! Ha ha!! I just couldn’t resist doing that to her and then we had a good laugh. I guess you had to be there.
Another of my all time favs is the Little Pea book by Amy Krouse Rosenthal….love love love it! Super cute, another “must have”! Well, imagine my surprise when I saw Little Hoot! Awww….so sweet. I didn’t know it was out and I’m so happy I bought it today because it is adorable!! I can’t wait to make a little stuffed owl family to go with this book. Check it out if you haven’t already!
What is the moral of this post? You can never have too many books OR magazines!! Come on, i know I’m not the only one with a shameful amount of subscriptions!! What are yours??
(p.s. my list includes: us weekly, ok, star, good housekeeping, marie claire (2), lucky, W, elle, cottage living, romantic homes, house beautiful, cookie, parenting, parents, family fun, wonder time, natural solutions, shape, self, baby, creating keepsakes, simple scrapbooks, memory makers, paper crafts, card maker, glamour, allure, redbook, O at home, blue print, real simple, body+soul….these are only the ones I can remember off the top of my head without looking..)
Whoooo Hooo! The weekend is offically here! Enjoy!
First Outdoor Date
April, 16 08 at 7:30 pm | In Fabric, Scrapbooking, Sewing | 2 CommentsTags: cards, etsy, mother's day, Patchwork, pictures, play date, Sewing
What a beautiful week so far! Sunny, breezy and WARM. Loving it! Perfect for a first date outside…Lilyana that is. Her and one of her future suitors, Brooks, came over to bask in the sunshine and have a little play date. She started out pretty happy…
Then I think maybe 100 pictures later….both her and her date had enough!
I know that when she’s a teenager, she’s going to hate me! It wont be until she’s my age that she’ll appreciate the thousands of pictures mommy took. Seriously, the earliest picture I have of myself is when I was 1 year old. How sad…! I guess back in the 70’s, pictures were not important. I look at almost every situation as photo op! THIS is how demented I am: I can not wait til she’s older and I can give her a little slice of lemon…JUST so I can get it on film. Terrible, i know! It must be the scrapbooker in me.
A couple posts ago I was gabbing about my recent “rainbow” fetish, and how I had to have that rainbow hat…remember? Well that very same day, I got a “lily eden” request to make a black rainbow patchy scarf. Ironic, huh? Thought I would share…I love how it turmed out, although I think I would have done the backing a little different. I hope she likes it!
It was fun to make, I love doing patchwork….such a creative process to piece it all together, that’s my favorite!
Just a reminder that the etsy greetings team is still hosting the Mother’s Day promo (free secondary shipping on all Mother’s Day cards!). You would spend $2–$5 on a card anyway, right? SO…why not buy handmade instead of giving your money to big business! Plus, our cards are much prettier (hee hee, I am pretty biased I guess). Just go HERE to see all of the cards that are eligible for the free shipping promo.
Here’s a few “blooming” cards I have recently posted at Lemon Tree…………..
Or how about a card with a front pocket for adding a gift card?
And, don’t forget about your mom-in-law, step mom, aunts, sister, grandmother’s, friends and anyone who’s been like a mother to you!
Have a HAPPY DAY!
Picky Eater!!
April, 12 08 at 4:25 pm | In Random, Sewing, What's Cooking | 12 CommentsTags: dog, dog food, dog treats, etsy, Tibetan Terrier
Does anyone have a dog who you have to BEG to take treats?? Probably not. Well, I do!! Our little Tibetan Terrier, aka Owen, aka Tibetan Terror, is neurotic! Seriously. He gets a raw food diet and is offered dry kibble…and he will usually shun both. He eats like a bird. And, what dog turns down raw yummies like turkey, beef, chicken or lamb?? Oh no..he likes to eat all the things that are not even food. He’s nutso! Just try to lure him with a treat, ya right! He runs the other way. Crazy dog. He’s been this way since we brought him home at 8 weeks old!
And, now at almost 2 years old….things haven’t changed.
So, I spent part of this morning baking him the only treats I know he’ll eat without asking any questions…his Peanut Butter Poppers! They are super simple and quite delish! I wanted to share the recipe…so all your little doggies can enjoy!
Owey’s Organic Peanut Butter Poppers
*2 cups whole wheat organic flour
*1 tbsp. baking powder
*1 cup natural organic peanut butter (chunky or smooth)
*1 cup organic milk
Preheat oven to 375. Combine flour & baking powder.
In another bowl, mix peanut butter & milk, then add to dry
ingredients and mix well. Place dough on a lightly floured
surface and knead. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and use
cookie cutter to make shapes. Bake for 20 minutes on greased baking
sheet until lightly brown. Careful…..these can burn easily!
Mhm. Someone came running over to check out the situation! That’s not my hand! LOL!
He can certainly sit pretty when it’s something he thinks he wants!! Stinker!
And he still has the nerve to second guess what I’m giving him!! Ugh!! Neurotic!!

If you try the recipe, let me know how your furry friend likes ‘em!
The rest of the morning was spent getting some custom orders done (which I love doing, by the way!)…some fun photo albums, a patchwork scarf in the works, a slew of Mother’s day cards, baptism invites, a “happy graduation” banner and a few other little tidbits!

I’m also working on some more little goodies for mom for the shop so check back often!
Enjoy your weekend!!
Feeling Smurfy!
April, 10 08 at 1:28 am | In Fabric, Random, Sewing | 7 CommentsTags: cabbage patch dolls, cartoons, crochet hat, etsy, my little pony, rainbow, rainbow brite, smurfette, smurfs
Oooh, how I used to love the smurfs (and still do), I have the sheets to prove it. I remember I couldn’t wait for Saturday mornings so I could sit in front of the TV with my Lucky Charms and get pulled into the Smurf’s village of mushroom homes and the evil land of Gargamel and his cat…..what was his name?? It’s on the tip of my tongue! It started with an “A”, I believe. Look at how carefree and happy they all are!

I wanted to be Smurfette! She was fabulous….living in that land of boy smurfs, being adored and lusted after (lusted? LOL).
And, of course…wise old Papa Smurf….overseeing his village….I love it!
I was getting “smurf-sick” because I heard that there was a release of the Smurfs DVD, like the first 15 episodes…all on one DVD!! Well, I have been looking for it and have not been able to find it! One place had it but they were sold out. Boo Hoo!!
What children’s character’s did you used to love?
My friend Stephanie and I were just remembering how much we loved our cabbage patch dolls and My Little Pony. And we both agreed that Rainbow Brite was the ultimate must have!! I have those sheets too!!

Isn’t she awesome? Those boots! Yum!
So all that talk about Rainbow Brite, got me wanting a rainbow colored hat for Lilyana. I seriously just put in the request 2 days ago and this awesome seller on etsy, Savannah Lane Designs finished a hat for me in less than 48 hours! And the hat is STUNNING! Can’t wait to put it on her….look at this beauty!

There is no way you are seeing this rainbow hat and not feeling jealous because you want one for yourself. No way! Get over to her shop and order one up already! It is scrumptious!
Not that anyone remembers, but that Summer in the City quilt is slowly but surely coming along….I need someone to light a fire under my booty to get that blanket going! It’s hard to stay on task with that thing! I have a few other sewing projects under way…I’m in the process of re-vamping my lilyeden etsy shop
so stay tuned!!
It’s almost Friday! Enjoy the day~

Vim and Vinegar
April, 7 08 at 10:25 am | In Random | 5 CommentsTags: cards, ebay, etsy, etsygreetings, mother's day, painting, vera bradley, vim and vinegar, vinegar

Good morning, Mr. P! A favorite toy of the lady of the house….and he takes a pretty picture…Good morning to all!
So, I have been obsessed with this book: Vim & Vinegar ! It started out as an innocent “check out” from the library and now I have re-newed it so many times it’s starting to look vintage!! I should just buy my own copy I suppose, because his book is amazing! I knew about the old wives tales about vinegar and its cure-all fantasies, but I rarely remember to use vinegar and this book has every single use for vinegar you can imagine. And the best part is that they actually work! Some of my favorites:

1. Mix a few tablespoons of vinegar into your pets water bowl to ward off mosquitos and ticks
2. Use a vinegar rinse on your hair after shampooing (half vinegar/half water) to make it SHINE (also helps with dry flakes)
3. Rub some vinegar on your finger and toenails before polishing them to make the polish last longer
4. Drink a mixture of water and a couple teaspoons of apple cider vinegar with your meals to help with digestion (also says this mixture can be used as a diet aid)
5. Use white vinegar in laundry (instead of any soaps) for an au natural alternative to cleaning baby clothes (and adult clothes). I guess regular soaps have all these animal fats in them and that some people have sensitivities to this. Gross!
Those are just a few of my favorites, but this stuff is a cure-all, clean-all, be-all for lots and lots of things you would never even think of! You know you’re wondering just how long that vinegar has been sittin’ under your kitchen sink!
Other than thinking about vinegar, my morning has consisted of feeding Lilyana, feeding Owen, feeding the hubby (do I get to eat?) and trying to pick out colors for our deck! Normally I love colors and picking things out, but this is no fun to me! We have a giganta-deck (and 2 of them), so whatever I pick out is going to either mesh beautifully or stick out like a sore thumb!! These little 1 inch squares they give you to choose from is NOT good enough! Argh! How can I tell from a 1 incher??

Casey, you’ll tell me if it looks bad, right?? Hee hehe eehehe
I mean seriously, don’t you think paint color samples (even just for a wall) should be at least 12 X 12?? I do! Anyone know of any out there?? I have a couple bedrooms to paint, too!
Have I ever said how much I love being a part of the etsy team called etsygreetings? Well I do! And this team of fabulosity will be having the MOTHER of all promotions! Starting this Thursday, April 9th all Mother’s Day cards from etsy sellers who are a part of this team will offer FREE SHIPPING when at least 1 other card is purchased from their SHOP . All you (as a buyer) would need to do to find these Mother’s Day cards is type EGMOM into the search box on etsy. I’m working on some cute Mother’s Day cards to add in my shop for the promotion…here’s a lil sneak peak…

I’ve really been into stitching lately and FLOWERS! Flowers, flowers, flowers! Be sure to check out the new cards and albums at my Lemon Tree Studio. I’m also destashing some of my supplies and embellies, so be on the lookout for those as well.
While I’m letting go of some things….does anyone like Vera Bradley and her quilted yumminess? If so, I have extras that are brand new, never used and they are listed on feebay, I mean ebay right now. You can check them out HERE. I have a couple of the retired patterns listed!
Have a meaningful Monday!
Spring Love….and Cleaning!
April, 6 08 at 2:04 am | In Random | 1 CommentTags: anniversary, love, spring cleaning
TODAY IS APRIL 5, 2008! Still trying to figure out why this post reads as April 6th, but it’s really the 5th!!
How ironic! In my last post, I was complaining about how dreary the weather was and I was wishing for Spring. Well…today my wish came true! It’s a balmy 60-ish degrees and super sunny…pure perfection. I would love it if Wisconsin weather was like this year-round.
Not only is it a beautiful Spring day, it’s also a beautiful 5 year anniversary! Mine and my hubby’s that is! 5 years ago today, we stood on the lush lawns of a Hawaiian island and exchanged vows in front of close friends, family and the Pacific ocean. And this morning we exchanged cards (no, I didn’t make mine! How shameful! I just didn’t have anything “manly” enough, although this one looks a little girly the more I look at it…..but, anyway, I’m working on that for Father’s Day cards coming up!). It was so sweet to read the cute little sentiments…the hubby has always been good at putting ”his feelings” into writing!

Awww…..! I just love him! Then we had a sweet little lunch with the Lily-bug and then……the real fun began! SPRING CLEANING!! We spent the entire day airing out the house, cleaning the window screens and the windows (whew!).

I made these babies SHINE! The windows are like invisible mirrors (is that even possible?). Hopefully there are no birds who get hurt in this Spring cleaning project!

We scrubbed the floors, shampooed the carpets, polished the stairs, dusted, laundered and re-arranged. It was a hard days work (and my back feels like it’s going to snap) but to look around and see/smell a fresh house makes me soooo happy!! What a romantic anniversary, eh?
I just loooove Spring and I looove my hubby! Thank you for a fabulous and fun 5 years!
Have a happy Saturday!
